Big Zuu visits HMP Bristol

Big Zuu brings cooking, creativity and inspiration to HMP Bristol!

BAFTA-winning chef and television presenter Big Zuu visited HMP Bristol this spring for a day celebrating the power of food to bring people together.

Alongside his co-presenters Tubsey and Hyder, Zuu joined prisoners and staff in the prison kitchen to cook BBQ chicken wings, Mama Zuu's jollof rice and sweet and sour carrots. The day combined cooking demonstrations with hands-on workshops, giving participants the opportunity to learn new skills while sharing a meal together.

The visit perfectly reflected Food Behind Bars' belief that food is about far more than nutrition. Cooking creates opportunities for conversation, confidence, teamwork and connection - qualities that are just as valuable inside prison as they are outside.

The visit formed part of our ongoing partnership with HMP Bristol, where we continue to support the catering team through our Prison Food Education Programme and the development of healthier prison menus. Watch a sneak peek from the day below!
